Everything you need to know about testing or portfolio requirements in Virginia can be found at www.heav.org/testing/index.html.
Testing Centers in our area:
Sorry, I’m still working on this part.
The California Achievement Test (CAT) can be administered at home by a parent. I’ve had particular success with this resource:
Seton Home Study School
1350 Progress Drive
Front Royal, VA 22630
540-636-9990
Cost: $25 per student
Results should be mailed to the superintent of the local school board by August 1st
A note from Valley Home Educators:
VHE offers Stanford standardized testing (Iowa for Kindergarten) to its members each year. This year’s testing is tentatively scheduled for late April or early May, but it’s not too early now for you to begin to plan! (Exact dates should be published in the March newsletter.)
What you should do now:
1. Contact Bob Jones University Press (1-800-845-5731 or www.bjup.com) to request a copy of the BJ Home Education Services Catalog, which will have an order form for tests. You will need to order tests directly from BJU Press. When ordering, list “Miriam Clark” as tester and give my mailing address (771 Woods Road, H-burg, 22801). My tester ID number is 849243. Tests can be ordered any time until the middle of March. Tests can be ordered online. A registration form to return to me for VHE testing will be published in the February newsletter.
2. If you haven’t already paid your dues to VHE, you will need to do that before you will be able to register for our testing services.
3. Pass the word around to any home schooling friends who may want to test, but are not currently VHE members.
4. Are you available to help with testing? We need testers with a Bachelor’s Degree and other helpers as well.
To offer to help, or for any other questions about testing, please contact Miriam Clark at wandmclark@aim.com or 433-6183.
