High-School Classes

The National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA) believes that formal speech and debate can provide a means for home schooled students to learn and exercise analytical and oratorical skills, addressing life issues from a Biblical world view in a manner that glorifies God. To provide these opportunities to home schooled students, NCFCA shall facilitate qualifying tournaments throughout the country and the annual national tournament. Classical Conversations Challenge Program is a 30 week Christian Classical program for students aged 12 and up.  Beginning in 2010, this program meets at the same time/ location as the Foundations program geared for K4 – 6th grade.  As far as I know as of 2010, this is the only weekly, full-curriculum classroom environment being offered to high school students in the Harrisonburg area. Tutors aid students in practicing dialectic and rhetorical skills in 6 challenging subjects.  Check out the website to determine what program you’re interested in.  You contact the tutor listed for your child’s level.   The group meets Wednesdays on Boyers Road in Harrisonburg.

Shenandoah Youth Valley Symphony Orchestra is an audition only for advance junior and senior high wind, percussion and string students.  Auditions are held in September and January.

  1. Would like information on Latin 1 classes. I have a daughter that might be interested in taking this class.

    Thanks,

    Penny

    • Penny, the best person to talk to is Teresa Patton. She is the interim headmaster this year at Redeemer Classical School. She has also taught Latin to homeschoolers and would probably be able to answer any questions you might have on the subject. Her e-mail is tpatton@redeemerclassical.org.
